3 Types of Foods That Are the Main Causes of Kidney Stones

Health Lav89 - 3 Types of Foods That Are the Main Causes of Kidney Stones. For those of you who have experienced kidney stones certainly do not want it to happen again. Therefore, you must take precautions, one of which is to avoid foods that cause kidney stones.

In general, men are more at risk of developing kidney stones than women. This happens because men tend to prefer to hold urine and pay less attention to a healthy diet for the kidneys. Another cause is because many men work in the field and often sweat a lot, but drink small amounts of water.

There are four types of kidney stones, namely uric acid, calcium, cystine and struvite. If you don't regulate your diet and nutritional intake, then you can have the risk of having one or even several types of kidney stones. Therefore, it is important for you to know the type of food that causes kidney stones.

What types of food can cause kidney stones?

1. Foods that contain Sodium

Foods that cause the first kidney stones are foods that taste salty because they are thought to contain lots of sodium (salt). When your body's sodium levels get higher, it will force the kidneys to release a lot of calcium in your urine. It is this excess of calcium in the urine that causes calcium to join phosphorus and oxalate to form kidney stones.

Therefore you should avoid high-sodium foods as follows:
  • Fast food.
  • Canned Soups and Vegetables.
  • Preserved food.
  • Salted fish Crackers, chips, and other salty snacks.
2. Foods that contain too much animal protein

The next type of food included in foods that cause kidney stones are those that contain lots of animal protein such as meat, fish, and eggs.

These foods contain lots of purine which then becomes uric acid in the urine. Citric acid helps stop the formation of kidney stones, but animal protein causes calcium excretion and removes the release of citric acid into the urine. So, urine containing uric acid, high levels of calcium and low citric acid, can be a cause of kidney stone formation.

You must limit eating foods that contain lots of animal protein, such as steaks, beef, goats, pigs, skim milk, fish, eggs, shellfish, chicken meat and so on. For those of you who have a risk of kidney stones, you must balance the source of animal protein above by drinking lots of water, fruit, and vegetables.

3. Foods that contain oxalate

Foods that cause the last kidney stones are types of foods that contain lots of oxalate (organic acids). Our body can produce its own oxalate to a certain degree, so if you eat foods that contain a lot of oxalate, it will increase the amount of oxalate in the body and will cause the accumulation of calcium oxalate crystallized in the urethra.

From now on consume less types of foods that contain lots of oxalates, such as beer, coffee, chocolate, nuts, soda (cola), tofu, spinach and so on.
